Cell and Molecular Biology
Description: This full English course is designed for student who is major for biomedical engineering and biomedical science. It introduces molecular cell biology with special focus on the functioning of cell. The courses is introduced by English. In addition, students are asked to finish homework, lab report and oral presentation by English.
Course Objective: This course will provide students with an introduction of the basic concept and up-to-date progress of molecular cell biology. The course will provide students with knowledge concerning the structure and function of cell. Particular emphasis will be placed on basic concept and knowledge of cell in molecular level regarding to how the cells working together to maintain the normal life. As major teachers for this course hold both medicine degree and cell biology & molecular degree, and have more than fifteen-year research experience in biomedical science, so it becomes possible the course will be able to well elucidate: “what is cell biology?”, “Why does biomedical engineering need cell biology?”, “How can cell biology serve the biomedical engineering?” and “How can cell biology and biomedical engineering work together?” All these are the key questions for the students who are major for biomedical engineering. The course will also contain some discussion of current topics. The students will also be introduced to methods that scientists use to investigate of cell in molecular level.
